Home should be your place for rest, enjoyment and safety. There’s nothing worse than coming home to constant tension, arguing and miscommunication. Families can be very complicated because everyone is unique in their ideas, feelings, worries and strengths. Family therapy can help those in close relationships to better understand and support each other. It enables family members to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, communicate effectively, and work together to make positive changes in their relationships and their lives.
I have worked successfully with hundreds of families of young adults and adolescents across multiple treatment centers. I apply a systems approach to family therapy by studying the interactions among each family member, understanding each individual’s perspective, identifying patterns of relating and proposing behavioral changes. With a little nudge, families can cultivate a home that is nurturing, peaceful and enjoyable.
